Trump Shares Doctored Image of Obamas Amid Pattern of Incendiary Posts

President Donald Trump posted a falsified image to Truth Social on Sunday depicting Barack and Michelle Obama boarding an Air Force One covered in graffiti. The doctored photo, featuring slogans like “BLM” and Arabic script, marks the latest instance of the president using inflammatory imagery to target his political predecessors.

The edited photograph displays the former president and first lady waving before a plane spray-painted with “Yes We Can” and “alhamdulillah,” an Arabic phrase meaning “praise be to God.” By utilizing graffiti-themed imagery—a historical trope often employed to evoke urban decay and crime—the post continues a yearslong history of personal attacks against the Obamas. This includes a February incident where the president shared an image depicting the couple as primates, which was later removed following bipartisan condemnation. Trump did not issue an apology for that post, ultimately attributing the error to a staff member.

This latest digital provocation coincides with heightened sensitivity surrounding the presidential aircraft. Last week, Trump debuted a retrofitted Boeing 747-800, valued at $400 million and gifted by Qatar, which abandoned the traditional light blue color scheme for a navy-blue belly with red and gold stripes. Beyond the Obama post, Sunday’s activity on Truth Social included a doctored image of an Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The post, which carried the caption “RESTRAINING ORDER NEEDED,” follows a recent diplomatic dispute during which Meloni labeled Trump’s claims that she begged for a photograph as “completely fabricated.” The White House has not yet provided comment on the social media activity.
