Five Years of Dhami: Assessing the Uttarakhand Mandate

Pushkar Singh Dhami has marked five years as Uttarakhand Chief Minister, framing his tenure as a testament to the influence of the central government’s 'double-engine' strategy. In his anniversary statement, Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance as the primary catalyst for the state's recent legislative and administrative shifts.

The administration’s record centers on a push for systemic change, most notably the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. Dhami positioned this move, alongside a series of new laws, as foundational to his government’s commitment to public welfare and structural modernization. Beyond legislation, the focus has shifted toward institutional reform, specifically targeting the recruitment sector.

Officials report that over 34,000 youth have secured government positions through revised, more transparent hiring processes. This effort is complemented by an expansion of job reservations for women and a concerted drive to leverage the state’s tourism potential for regional economic growth. To solidify these gains, the Chief Minister inaugurated the second phase of the 'Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar' campaign, an outreach initiative intended to bridge the gap between state bureaucracy and the local population.
