French Greens Launch No-Confidence Motion Over Heatwave Response

As France braces for a recurring onslaught of extreme temperatures, a coalition of opposition lawmakers has formally challenged the government’s crisis management. Thirty-two Green party members, backed by allies from the hard-left and socialist ranks, have filed a no-confidence motion to contest the state’s handling of the late June heatwave.

The motion, which secured signatures from 25 France Unbowed representatives and one Socialist deputy, marks a sharp escalation in political friction regarding climate adaptation strategies. The National Assembly is scheduled to debate the proposal on July 6, according to a spokesperson for the Green party faction. This legislative move forces a public accounting of current emergency protocols as the country faces the threat of a second consecutive heat event within weeks.
