CPI(M) Calls for Probe into Alleged MLA Bribery in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu’s political landscape faces fresh scrutiny as the CPI(M) demands a rigorous investigation into alleged attempts to bribe legislators. State Secretary P Shanmugam denounced the reported use of financial inducements to destabilize the government, labeling the practice of political horse-trading a fundamental threat to democratic integrity.

The call for accountability follows the recent Assembly elections, where voters signaled a clear desire to move past the traditional dominance of the DMK and AIADMK. Shanmugam noted the rapid emergence of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as a key indicator of shifting public sentiment. In response to the electoral climate, the Left parties have signaled their intent to provide external support to ensure a stable administration, while keeping a watchful eye on governance standards.

Beyond the bribery allegations, the CPI(M) is consolidating its advocacy through a coalition with the CPI and CPI(ML) Liberation. The alliance intends to maintain a firm stance on state-specific grievances, including the opposition to NEET, the regulation of mineral mining in Kanniyakumari, and the protection of workers' rights. While the party awaits the upcoming State Budget to formally evaluate the new government’s performance, its leadership remains committed to challenging any political maneuvering that undermines the mandate of the electorate.
