TMC Factional Rift Deepens with BJP Collusion Claims

West Bengal MLA Kunal Ghosh has accused a breakaway faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee of acting as a BJP-sponsored proxy, alleging the defectors are trading party loyalty for political survival as they prepare to petition the Election Commission in New Delhi over the control of the Trinamool Congress symbol.

Ghosh labeled the ten-member delegation as dishonest turncoats, arguing that their electoral success was predicated entirely on the TMC ticket they have now abandoned. The dissenters, however, maintain that their departure follows legitimate internal procedures, including a special session of the Assembly. Banerjee claims his group has already submitted the necessary documentation to the poll panel and intends to clarify their legal position during tomorrow’s high-stakes meeting.

This confrontation marks a critical escalation in the party's internal crisis. With both sides now vying for the official organizational structure and the party’s political identity, the Election Commission’s intervention has become the final arbiter in a struggle that threatens to fracture the TMC’s influence in the region.
