TMC Alleges BJP-Backed Assault on Mahua Moitra in Nadia

A violent confrontation erupted in West Bengal’s Plassey constituency today as a mob targeted the office of Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra with eggs. The incident has intensified the ongoing political friction between the TMC and the BJP, with senior party officials accusing their rivals of orchestrating a campaign of state-wide anarchy.

TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee characterized the assault as a symptom of a broader breakdown in law and order. He argued that the current climate of hostility is manufactured by figures aligned with the BJP, suggesting that personal safety has become a secondary concern to political intimidation.

Colleague and fellow MP Saugata Roy directed his criticism at local law enforcement, condemning the police for their perceived inaction during the incident. Roy described the targeting of a woman parliamentarian as a shameful failure of the state’s protective apparatus. The TMC leadership maintains that the police oversight is a calculated effort to suppress their political activity, vowing to persist in their regional advocacy under the guidance of Mamata Banerjee.
