The legal confrontation between DMK Member of Parliament TR Baalu and BJP leader K Annamalai has reached an abrupt conclusion, as Baalu withdrew his Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit. Annamalai announced the withdrawal on X, noting that the litigation originated from his public disclosure of asset details concerning Baalu and his family. Throughout the proceedings, the BJP leader opted to represent himself, personally handling the cross-examination of witnesses. The legal battle escalated when Annamalai filed a counter-suit following remarks Baalu allegedly made within the courtroom.

Despite the withdrawal, Annamalai remains firm in his accusations against high-ranking DMK officials, including former Chief Minister MK Stalin. He credited his legal team for their assistance during the trial and signaled that his focus on the alleged financial irregularities of the state government remains unchanged.
