Siddaramaiah Demands Probe After Attack on Congress MLA

A slipper-hurling incident at the Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations in Chikkaballapur has ignited a political firestorm in Karnataka. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has formally demanded an investigation into the assault on Congress MLA Pradeep Eshwar, labeling the targeted disruption an unacceptable breach of decorum during a public event.

Following a private meeting with Eshwar to review the details of the June 27 confrontation, Siddaramaiah pointedly blamed the BJP and JD(S) for orchestrating the disturbance. He urged Home Minister Priyank Kharge to initiate disciplinary action against security personnel on the scene, citing a failure to maintain order or prevent the escalation of violence against an elected official.

Karnataka Congress president BK Hariprasad echoed this condemnation, warning that such tactics represent a dangerous degradation of democratic discourse. The party leadership maintains that the incident was a calculated attempt to intimidate their representatives, reinforcing their pledge to protect the safety and integrity of their members in the state.
