Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the occasion by honoring the leaders of the movement, specifically citing the courage of Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, and Phulo-Jhano. In a public message, he described the rebellion as a profound symbol of the tribal community’s willingness to sacrifice for the motherland, noting that their commitment to defending their identity continues to resonate with modern generations.

President Droupadi Murmu also reflected on the significance of the 1855 uprising. She emphasized that the martyrdom of these figures remains an enduring inspiration for all citizens. By marking Hul Diwas annually, the nation recognizes this pivotal moment when the Santhal people took a definitive stand against the injustices imposed by foreign rule, forever embedding their struggle into the history of India’s fight for freedom.
