Women Architects of India’s Real Estate Future

More than just a gathering of industry professionals, the 5th NAREDCO Mahi Real Estate Convention in New Delhi served as a stark challenge to the sector's traditional gender barriers. Under the theme 'Breaking the Perception Ceiling,' the event marked five years of organized advocacy for female leadership in Indian development.

The convention brought together policymakers and developers to dismantle long-standing misconceptions about women’s roles in large-scale urban construction. During the opening ceremony, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and former Union Minister Smriti Irani emphasized that national economic progress remains incomplete without the full integration of women into high-level decision-making.

Discussions shifted from theoretical equality to practical applications during the 'Power of Possibilities' session. Leaders including Smriti Irani and Smita Patil examined how family-run firms can pivot toward more inclusive management structures. By focusing on sustainable urban development and the mechanics of leadership, the event aimed to move beyond symbolic gestures toward creating a pipeline of women equipped to influence the future of India’s built environment.
