India currently holds the highest growth rate among the world’s top 20 economies, a trend Daines expects to persist through next year. This economic momentum, coupled with the nation's status as the world's largest democracy, has solidified its position as a trusted ally. Daines, who recently accepted the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum’s 2026 Public Service Award, emphasized that human capital remains a cornerstone of this bilateral relationship, pointing to the contributions of Indian-American scientists and medical professionals.
To further cement this alliance, Daines is pushing for the swift conclusion of a comprehensive trade agreement between the two nations. He advocates for reducing bureaucratic hurdles to facilitate the movement of students and skilled professionals, specifically calling for reforms to the H-1B visa system. Beyond trade, the senator highlighted the administration’s focus on energy security, noting that stabilizing global markets is essential for national stability. While addressing concerns regarding the safety of the Indian-American community, Daines condemned all forms of hate crimes, affirming that the vast majority of the diaspora remains secure within the United States.
