Pushkar Singh Dhami Marks Historic Five-Year Milestone in Uttarakhand

On July 4, Pushkar Singh Dhami becomes the first BJP leader to serve a continuous five-year tenure as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. This feat places him alongside the late Narayan Dutt Tiwari as the only state leaders to complete a full term since the region's formation in 2000.

Pushkar Singh Dhami Marks Historic Five-Year Milestone in Uttarakhand

Dhami first ascended to the office on July 4, 2021. Following the 2022 assembly elections, he secured a second consecutive mandate, breaking a cycle of political volatility that saw ten different leaders hold the position over two decades. His tenure reflects a period of consolidation for the party in a state historically defined by frequent leadership changes.

To mark this period, the administration recently launched 17 infrastructure projects in Champawat valued at ₹123.79 crore. These initiatives include the ₹3.49 crore Jim Corbett Trail and a new city center development. Beyond physical infrastructure, the government has focused on service upgrades, such as the installation of a ₹6 crore MRI machine at a local facility, funded through a corporate social responsibility partnership with the ICICI Foundation. These projects align with the administration’s stated goal of balancing regional development with the preservation of local heritage.
